Happy Mother's Day

It's hard to believe that 13 years ago was the first time I've been able to celebrate Mother's Day as a mom. Over the years, I've watched other friends become mothers and have wished them well and hopefully guided them into the world of motherhood. I'm so excited when I find out that one of them is pregnant. It's always tough on me when a happily married woman chooses not to be a mother. I know it's their choice but there are so many woman who should be mother's who either cannot be or chose not to be. On the flip side there are woman who I see who are mother's and really should have been forced to take a test to become a mother (and I suspect they would have failed). Basically, there are lots of different types of moms.

I have one friend for sure who is currently pregnant. I'm so excited for she and her husband. They will make the most amazing parents. Right now it's tough for her because she lost her mom a few month ago. Things like that break my heart. I want to be able to do something for her but really just don't know what. I tried through words. And I hope it helped.

This post really isn't going where I thought it would....

I intended to talk about how wonderful my mother was and how fortunate I was to have her. I also have a wonderful mother-in-law. She tends to be a little overbearing but her heart is in the right place. God was very generous to me. I have a wonderful family and wonderful friends. Many of them are amazing parents and it's a privelege being a part of their life, watching them raise their children and watching them grow into amazing people.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers and future mothers in my life.

Quick recap

Dessert for Jack at Niche (Jeremy's restaurant)

This week has been crazy as the last few seem to be. I commented to Paul that I'm really ready for a weekend where I can relax and do nothing. Course, I have something on my calendar every weekend between now and June so I'm not sure when that is going to happen. Not sure if I mentioned it but last weekend we went to Chicago to visit my sister and her family and to help celebrate Jackson's 3rd birthday. Jack enjoying his day

This weekend, we took and overnight trip to Howe, Indiana for Paul's 30 year high school reunion. He was a bit of a rambunctious teen and ended up at Howe Military School for his senior year. It was interesting reliving those days with him. 8 other guys from the class of '79 were there so Paul was able to relive lots of memories and catch up with some old friends. It's odd but a number of the group actually live in the Detroit area so we're hoping to keep in touch.
