Racing for the Cure

Yesterday Emma, my mom and I along with a team of other friends participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. We joined the team Jilly's Joggers in memory of my friend Gillian who passed away in December. Her daughters (below) were the organizers of the team.

Since we had to be downtown Detroit around the time the sun rose we decided to spend the night downtown at the Renaissance Center, a Marriott hotel. We had a wonderful night! We were upgraded to a small suite which means we ended up having one king size bed, two queens and 2.5 baths (more than my house!). We also ate dinner at Andiamos where the manager came up and greeted us and then bought us dessert. I felt a lot like royalty.

We walked the 5K and I raised over $500 for cancer research. I'm working up to my goal of some day doing the 3 Day. People say I'm nuts, but I'm going to do it once.
